Important Update Regarding Stipends

Attention: We have encountered a MAJOR discrepancy between our interpretation of the contract regarding stipends and FSU’s.

FSU’s position is that we are not entitled to see an actual, real increase of $525 during the academic year. Many of us will actually see an increase of less than $400 in our gross pay. We will be filing a grievance immediately and we expect it to go to arbitration. To hear more about this, please come to our General Membership Meeting on November 1. This affects every graduate assistant on campus, but the GMM is only open to members. We are trying very hard to put together an informative meeting, so please hold your questions until then.

Food and drinks will be provided. RSVP to help us plan.

General Membership Meeting Fall 16

Come hear about the state of the union and learn what you can do to strengthen it. We’ll provide a financial report, give updates about health insurance and fees legislation, discuss our plan to increase member engagement, share the results from our consultation with Provost McRorie, and reveal the results from our member survey. This is a great opportunity to catch up on what the union’s been up to this semester and to learn how you can contribute. Our union works because we do.

Pizza, snacks, and drinks will be provided. RSVP to help us plan. We hope to see you there!

Fall 16 Social a Big Success

We had an amazing time at our Fall Social event. 41 current members turned out, and we welcomed 6 new ones! We’re so happy to facilitate opportunities for our hard-working members to get together and meet their colleagues from across campus.

Coordinating events like this is a joint effort. We’d like to send a special thank you to all those whose hard work made it possible, including the Executive Committee and our Department Representatives. If you’d like to help out with future events (we have several more planned this semester), contact Daniel, our Organizing Chair, at organizing@fsugau.org!

Fall 16 Social

It’s time for our Fall Social and GAU is heading back to GrassLands! We want to start the school year right and welcome all our new colleagues. Come join us for free pizza from Gaines Street Pies and, for the first 50 members, a free drink! Bring a new member and sign them up at the door for an extra free drink – and they’ll get one, too! We’ll also be handing out free snow cones!
