Governance

Who Leads GAU?

Like all unions, GAU has a hierarchy to ensure its smooth operation. Our leaders handle a wide range of operational issues, from bargaining with FSU, to pursuing grievances, recruiting new members, and expanding our outreach efforts across campus. The official hierarchy is just one part of it, though. Our union depends on the efforts of all our members to succeed.

Top-Level Leaders

There are five elected positions and six appointed positions on the EC.

Elected officers:

  • President

Appointed officers:

  • Political Action Chair
  • University Action Chair
  • Diversity Chair

Our Main Network

These leaders are key contact points across campus. Most EC members got their start as department reps. Each department can have 1 rep for every 15 members.

Committees

Each chair on the EC leads a committee to help accomplish their goals. Most committee members are also dept. reps, but not all. This is a great way to learn and grow into leadership.

Statewide Leaders

UFF is run by a statewide Senate that convenes twice a year; GAU elects 1 senator for every 25 members. When it comes to FEA, their legislative body is known as the Delegate Assembly; GAU elects 1 delegate for every 50 members. These leaders provide a critical voice for our chapter.
