Good Morning Graduate Assistants,
Our first bargaining session of 2021 is ON THE BOOKS, and now it’s time for the second one! This Friday, April 23rd, from 2-5PM is our 2nd bargaining session!
You guys did an AMAZING job at our first bargaining session of the year, pulling out all the stops and showing up in RECORD NUMBERS. Over NINETY of you logged onto zoom and sent the message to the administration loud and clear: these are issues that matter to YOU, and YOU will be watching as negotiations progress.
This Friday we will be presenting MORE ARTICLES to FSU (specifically: Articles 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 18, and Appendix A) and waiting to see if they have anything to RETURN to us from our last offer on workload, harassment, and discipline.
The Winner Is…
You might remember from LAST bargaining session, we held a departmental competition to see WHICH department could turn out the MOST members. Well the data is in and the winner is: SOCIOLOGY!!! All Sociology GAs who showed up last Friday will be getting their $5 Publix gift cards shortly!
Want in on that action? Stay tuned, because ALL SUMMER we’ll be holding competitions for turn out to various bargaining sessions!
What Can You Do?
1. Impact Statements We’re still looking for impact statements from members on retaliation, discipline, harassment, or overwork. These can be ANONYMOUS statements, and we can read them FOR you at bargaining on Friday. Email bargaining@fsugau.org to share your story.
2. Show Up The power of a union comes from its members! The more of us at bargaining, the more leverage we have and the louder our collective voice! Show up at bargaining this Friday and show the University that we are watching them.
3. Talk To Us At 1:30PM this Friday, we will be holding a PRE Bargaining Caucus session. That’s your time to share YOUR priorities and concerns about bargaining, ask our team questions, and get involved. We’ll also lay out for you exactly what to expect from bargaining that day. Below are the ZROOM (zoom-room) links. I expect to see you all there! Because remember: united we bargain, divided we beg!
In Solidarity, Vincenza Antonetta Berardo Chief Negotiator, UFF-FSU-GAU
