Impact Bargaining

Good morning GAs, Hope everyone is still hanging in there for these last few weeks of the semester. Impact Bargaining to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 on GAs is now SCHEDULED for its first session on Tuesday, April 7th, 1-3PM on everyone’s favorite video conferencing software, ZOOM. If you didn’t see the last e-mail, impact bargaining is a special, parallel bargaining session that takes place when an employer (FSU) makes policy changes which have “impacts” on the conditions of employment that are already covered by the contract we negotiate each year. I attached again our first impact bargaining proposal that we submitted to the administration. On Tuesday, they will submit to us their counter-proposal. What can YOU do? You can show up!  Below are two Zoom meeting links. The first is the administration’s Zoom meeting. This is the main space where bargaining between FSU-GAU and FSU’s administration will take place!  Separately, and simultaneously, we will be running an FSU-GAU “caucus room” Zoom meeting. Basically, any time we and the administration break apart to discuss things over in private with our teams, we move to separate caucus rooms where only FSU-GAU members are allowed. In the virtual world, what this means is you’ll leave the administration’s Impact Bargaining meeting room and switch into the meeting room below, FSU-GAUs Impact Bargaining “Caucus” room.  One silver lining in these crazy circumstances we’re living through is that now bargaining is more accessible than ever. So even if you can only “show up” for ten minutes, try and give a look in on Tuesday and see what bargaining is all about.
